In this post today, I am going to share with you everything you might want to know about a Facebook Group. Including the need to create a group, the Facebook Groups and Algorithm. The types of Facebook groups, and the difference between Facebook Groups and Pages.
So, go on, read away! Create Facebook Groups for Your Business
In general, Facebook Groups are very valuable, and their impact on marketing strategy cannot be undermined. Here are the reasons for you to create Facebook groups for your business.
Facebook groups let you create a community around your brand. It centers a group around your brand, whether it is a part of a subscription service or not, having a group is important in so many ways.
Firstly Facebook groups help you in increasing brand value for your brands and products for your customers. And trust me, nothing is better than getting a group of people together who have one similarity– a love for you and your products. It connects you to valuable customers who are really interested in your products.
On the other hand, groups give you an excellent opportunity to show off your expertise and dedication to your customers. Especially since most of the questions that someone wants to ask are already asked by someone else on the group, and that would be visible to all the members.
By answering these questions, by encouraging & requesting your audience to give you feedback. You can generate excellent networking opportunities and make valuable connections with them. These connections keep bringing your customers back to you.
It lets you form valuable customers, the customers who keep on buying your products. After all, you don’t want people to buy from you just once. You want them to keep coming back to you, a Facebook group can help you do just that.
Don’t stop right here, there is one more very important reason why businesses ought to use Facebook Groups, and its importance has gotten it, its section.
As a marketer and as a user, you must have noticed some significant changes in your newsfeed. And that is, more than 50% of your newsfeed has posts from the groups that you have joined, not only that. But these posts are always on the top of the feed.
The new Facebook algorithm has decreased the reach of the pages even more. At the same time, prioritized group posts.
That’s because Facebook Zero is all about fostering communities and showing users the content they want to see instead of the content you want them to see.
After all, there is a reason why people join a group.
Mark Zuckerberg himself said that people want to hear more from family, friends, and groups. Facebook has done exactly that, it has delivered what it said. So, in simple words, the reach of your page has gone down significantly. The posts of your groups have it in them to make it to the feed of the members.
Use the groups correctly to be able to get your content higher in the newsfeed of your followers, more than it has been in the last few years.
Combine this with all the other benefits that groups provide, and they become so worth your time and investment.
Facebook pages are always public, Facebook groups, however, do not have to be, if you don’t want them to be. If you do decide to leave your page public, then anyone on Facebook would be able to see your information if someone interacts with the group.
This has some privacy concerns associated with it, especially if the profile of the user is not protected from strangers. Privacy is the main concern for anyone, and you should always double-check who can see your posts and page, also protecting it from unknown is a necessary step.
Let’s discuss here what other types of Facebook groups there can be –
A group can be made more protected, and private than a Facebook page, the creator of the group, has the option to keep it closed. So, how would someone interact if the group is closed? Only the people who have been invited to the group can see the information shared in the group. Only they have the right to interact in the group.
For example, team members who are working on a project together can communicate with each other effectively using a closed Facebook Group.
That way, the team gets a private forum to share ideas on a project, make some post updates, and do everything that one can do with a page. The only difference is, the entire information will be shared with everyone who is in the group only. However, other people on Facebook will be able to see that this particular group exists, and they will be able to see the members of the group, but that’s that. If you create a closed group, you can invite people to join your group. Only the people who accept the request get added to the groups officially.
If there is something more private than a closed group on Facebook, then it is the secret group. No one on Facebook, probably not even Mark Zuckerberg, can see the secret a group or know about its existence, other than the people who are in the group.
The main and sole difference between Closed and secret groups, you know about the existence of the group but cannot participate without the admin’s permission is the closed group. Secret Facebook group, you remain unaware of its existence unless you are one of the members or admin, of course. To get an invite to a secret group, you need to be an insider.
The secret group will not show on your profile, not on any member’s profile. Just the members of the group will be able to see who is within the group and what they are sharing.
There are so many reasons for you to use a secret group. Secret groups are used on numerous platforms that even include prime platforms. Did you know that The Secret Facebook group was used in the year 2016 at the time of the presidential election of Hillary Clinton? The group was created by Libby Chamberlain for like-minded progressives.
Secret groups are also used for birthday parties or friends where secret-keeping is involved. Or, if you are looking for a secure platform to talk to your friends, then this is the platform that you should be using.
Secret groups are a great option for brands that aim to catch as a wide audience as possible. With secret groups, you can create a buzz and make a safe fan forum to deliver audience-exclusive content and offers.
The private medium makes the member feel safe for their thoughts, so they express more clearly. On this platform, you don’t need to worry about spammers or other companies encroaching.
The third privacy setting for groups on Facebook is public. As the name tells you, this group is public, open to all. Anyone on or off Facebook can see what’s going on in the group, who is participating and how is everyone reacting to that. Group’s location, name, members, and posts are open to all, and anyone can see it. You will not need an invitation to join a public group. However, only the members of the group can post in the group and interact with it.
Pages and Groups are different from each other on so many levels, but one thing which makes them entirely different from each other in the network. Facebook Groups work on a smaller network as compared to the pages. The network of your group can be limited to your high school, college, or company or simply a group for members of any network.
Additionally, while a page can gather as many likes as possible, a group usually has less than 250 members, so there is a limit to the number of likes you will be getting. This automatically makes Facebook Groups significantly smaller than Facebook Pages.
The inside of Facebook groups works slightly differently than your Facebook profile. A group does not use any timeline feature; the posts are shown in chronological order.
Also, you can see who has seen the posts, a feature not available on newsfeeds.
One of the major differences between liking a page and joining a group is the number of notifications. In the case of groups, every time someone makes a post, likes, or comments, then you will receive a notification. On the other hand, if you are on a page, whenever someone likes your comments or tags you in a comment, then you will be told of it like every other comment and like on Facebook.
If you feel like changing the type for the group, you can do that by going through the privacy option. Open your Facebook setting go to privacy, and change the type such as the public group to a closed group or closed group to a private group.
There are two things to consider here. First, you can only switch from a more secure group like the public to a closed group; the reverse is not possible. The second thing is that if you change your group type facebook allows you only 2 hours to undo the process. After 24 hours, undoing the process is not possible. When you change the group setting, each member of the group receives a notification immediately.
