If you have a Google account, you’ve probably used Google Calendar as well. This completely free app is really easy to use. It allows you to track your schedule in a fun and interactive way, but most importantly, it syncs with your other assignments, such as meeting mentioned in your Gmail account. With Google calendar app for Mac being an even bigger trend this year than previous ones, it’s time to learn how to make the most of your Google Calendar.

What are the features which you won’t be able to go through your entire week without? What have you been missing with all your notes written all around instead of gathering them together in one brilliant app? Let’s take a look at why is everyone thrilled with this Google’s app.

Google Calendar Sync

If you have one calendar on your phone, and another on your desktop, you’re probably troubled not to miss a thing. However, with Google Calendar, you can easily sync all your calendars into one. This will allow you to have all your events in one place so you can see what your schedule actually looks like for this day, week or month.

If you need to have a personal and work calendar due to your numerous activities. You can simply sync these two into your Google Calendar and stop being concerned you will miss something. If you’re tightly working with your colleagues on an important project. Then you might need to see their schedule as well. Google Calendar allows you to do that without any problem.

Google Hangouts

We all know about the great option of scheduling meetings in Google Calendar. But did you know you can also create a Google Hangouts link and have a virtual meeting? This is quite handy for companies with remote teams. You simply add a Google Hangouts link and your colleague will be invited to the meeting. Also, they can easily find the event link in their calendar so they don’t have to go through their emails to find it.

All you have to do is create an event and click on ‘More Options’. Under ‘Add conferencing’, you should click on ‘Hangouts’ and complete the rest of the details for your event. After you saved all this, you will notice the event in your calendar and anyone else who is participating in it will be notified as well.

Calendar View

We all work differently and our assignments differ as well. Some people will work on one major project the entire week, while others will work on ten tasks per day. If you’re one of those people who have dozens of new items every week in their calendar. You can easily change the view of your Google calendar and get a better idea of your own schedule.

For instance, if your following week will be packed with events, you might consider changing it to a day view. So you can see all of your activities without being distracted by the rest of the week. On the other side, if you have one project per day. It will be better for you to see your Google Calendar in a monthly view to have a clear overview.

Hiding Guest List

Not all of your meetings are public and everyone wants to be introduced to other participants of the meeting. So, if you are going to be a host of a confidential meeting, you can use the option to hide your guest lists in your Google Calendar.

To do that, you will need to create an event first. Then, on the right-hand side, click on ‘Guest can’ and un-check the box ‘See guest list’. This will allow you to hide the names of the people who will also be attending this meeting but for a certain reason, they don’t want others to see their names on that list.

Final Thoughts

There are numerous brilliant options you’ll enjoy once you start using Google Calendar. Whether you need it for your personal or business use, this app is something that will become a part of your daily routine and it will save you a lot of time as you will have all your information in one place!

  • Hi Reji,

I like using Google calendar because I can share one calendar with my family and another one with each of my clients. And I can see them all on one page, nicely colour coded.
