As a freelancer you should finish or attempt all work within a stipulated time period so that it will not hamper other projects. The situation is nearly the same when we work in an office environment in a full-time job.

1. Planning is the best policy to start any work:

The best way to keep your schedule is to make a weekly or monthly schedule. As you get work from your client mark a deadline or stipulated time on calendar as per your competancy.

If you get many works at a time please check your schedule first before you make any commitment to any client. This practice help to finish your work on time without giving much headache to your client.

Planning help you maintaining a good work discipline. It might also help you to make extra income at home. Setting a deadline and work accordingly will defenitely help you to increase your productivity as a freelancer.

Take a break of 5 minutes in every 50 minutes will do wonders in your productivity rather that working continuously without proper break. This is why you can focus on your work . A productive freelancer is a person who can understand the importance of his or her clients and attempt every work with full dedication so that it can be finished on time or a bit before that.

It is not just limited to email, text, and phone calls, but also personal meeting will do wonders . Due to the advent of modern technology , video conferencing with clients and colleages is also another proven strategy that might increase your productivity as you can keep yourself updated through proper communication with your clients.

It is very important to build a good relationship with others and keep them in a loop of your business activities. This will help you establish your name as a good freelancer.

3 Set your Goals:

Setting a goal is very important to do any work. Without a goal our life is aimless. Having a goal keeps you motivated and . Set a long, middle and long term goals. 4 Create to-do Lists:

Use your Goal list to create To-do list on daily basis. You can use or create your to-do list by using desktop app, mobile app, online app or by using the traditional method of using a pen or pencil. Create on your format you prefer so that you can plan or stay focussed on your work.

Create the next to- do list on end of each end of the day.

5 Don’t try to do too much multitasking:

Actually, the word “multitasking” originated with the arrival of computers and its terminology. Many believe that we can achieve more by doing many tasks at a time. But actually, it’s not true. In fact, doing one task with full attention is much better rather than doing multi tasks at a time. Spreading your attention on multi task at a time will lead affect your quality and productivity of your work. Focussing on one task at a time will hike your productivity along with your quality of work.

6 Eliminate distraction:

Apportion your time to check your social media and email account. It is better not to keep your social media accounts and e-mails open while you are working on a project. This will degrade your performance while working. The best thing you can do is to check your emails and other accounts twice a day with some fixed time. You can also read and respond your emails at some long batches. Like you can read 40 e-mails at one hour batch and respond to them. Then go for another batch of left over e-mails to read and make a response for the same.

7 Set up your office properly:

One of the other most important thing is cleanliness. Try to keep your office neat and clean all the time. All files and other documents should be properly organised in a file. Keep all essential things like pen, paper, printer and phone near your computer table. Cluttered and disarranged things near your table will negatively affect your mood which will directly effect your performance. It is better to utilise some time in the morning to set up your office.

Conclusion:

Before starting any work or project you should promise yourself to complete a stipulated work within a day. Never ever think of postponing some work for tomorrow unless it is not very urgent. Postponing the work might make you more lazy and less productive as you might continue the habit of postponing things the very next day too. Always, keep on motivating yourself mentally so that you will become more productive.

  1. Hello Robin,
I start every week by writing down my tasks on a Diary. Having a daily habit is been proven to grow levels of productivity, but it’s not easy to do as a freelancer when your time is entirely your own.
